TRIP MATURITY AND CASE USE PERFORMANCE

As a subconsultant of engineering firm VHB, Mason Epi served as a member of the stakeholder panel for the Transportation Research Informatics Platform (TRIP), which leverages open source tools to integrate raw transportation data. TRIP is funded under the FHWA’s Exploratory Advanced Research Program. 

The stakeholder panel’s goal was to refine a series of safety and operation use cases to test TRIP’s capabilities outside of a lab environment—and ultimately advance its viability as a research product. As a panel member, Mason Epi provided a public health perspective for each test case around data biases, data sources, and possible causal mechanisms via a series of webinars. 

TRIP has now progressed to formal testing.
